Ecological Planting Transformation from Lawn to Prairie

In partnership with Denver Parks’ Urban Ecology team, Studio Campo is transforming 24 acres of underutilized turf along East 56th Avenue and Chambers Road into a resilient native prairie in Denver, replacing high-water landscapes with habitat-rich systems that support pollinators and wildlife. The project expands ecological connectivity, enhances community identity, and advances sustainable, low-water open space design.

Wildflowers will be added to a blue grama and buffalo grass plant matrix.

A monoculture of Kentucky blue grass will be replaced with specimens from varied plant families to increase biodiversity and support pollinators.
