Rocky Mountain outpost for new hospitality brand
Trailborn: Rocky Mountains marks the brand launch of hospitality group, Trailborn, committed to design-forward hotels for adventurous types. The project spans across two hotel properties in Estes Park, Colorado at the gateway of Rocky Mountain National Park. Work included design of entry gardens, exterior public spaces, and two pool renovations, as well the design and construction of close to 100 pieces of furniture, largely built from ponderosa pines downed during demolition. In collaboration with our friends at Electric Bowery.
Trailborn: Rocky Mountains is the reimagining of a 50’s motor lodge into a design-forward boutique hotel. The 12-acre campus features a renovated swimming pool, hotel renovation, restaurant and outdoor terraces. Second phase will expand the hotel and add A-frame cabins.
The exterior amenities focused on pulling guests outside to relax by the fire, read in a hammock, or lounge at the pool. Studio Campo designed and fabricated over 100 pieces of custom furniture for the project, including branded Adirondack chairs, benches, coffee tables, hammock chairs, and stump stools.
We worked closely with the architects to seamlessly integrate the interior and exterior spaces. Bluestone flagstone transitions from the lobby and restaurant out to the exterior dining terrace. The planting design features a mix of evergreen and deciduous native plants, including Bouteloua gracilis, Ericameria nauseosa, and Populus tremuloides.
Trailborn: Rocky Mountains Outpost is a secondary location for the brand in Estes Park, located just a mile from the main hotel. We used the same design details, furniture, and plant palette to tie the two together. Studio Campo developed a custom green stain for the Adirondacks at this property and fabricated a built-in bench for the upper exterior terrace.
